Privacy Awareness Week 2007
The week is an opportunity for organisations and agencies covered by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) to promote privacy awareness to their staff, customers, and to the wider community.
Privacy Awareness Week is a promotional campaign first initiated by Privacy Victoria in 2001. This year, for the first time, Privacy Awareness Week has gone international and will be jointly promoted by the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) Forum members which include our Office, the Victorian and NSW Privacy Commissioners, the Information Commissioner of the Northern Territory, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, New Zealand , the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong and the Korean Information Security Agency.
The theme is "Privacy is your business".
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner, Australia, has a number of Privacy Awareness Week promotional items available as well as a list of suggestions of what you can do to promote Privacy Awareness Week. There are also a range of activities planned that will take place during Privacy Awareness Week, view the events schedule for more details.
You may find some of the material developed for Privacy Awareness Week 2006 useful, including the ’10 steps guide’ and privacy quizzes.
